Pre-owned Stone Island jackets with the compass badge on the left sleeve, from lightweight nylon shells to padded and puffer jackets.
Fabric first
Stone Island began in 1982 with a jacket fabric. Massimo Osti made the first collection from Tela Stella, a cotton canvas based on lorry tarpaulin and coated with resin in two contrasting colours. Fabric research has stayed at the centre of the brand, and the name of the fabric is often part of how a Stone Island jacket is described.
Shells, soft shells and puffer jackets
Lightweight shells are made from nylon fabrics such as Micro Reps or crinkled nylon, usually with a stand collar or a hood and a full zip. Soft Shell-R is a soft shell fabric, and several jackets in it are padded with PrimaLoft insulation. Padded and puffer jackets are filled with down or synthetic insulation, and some jackets have a fleece or sherpa lining. Bomber jackets and field jackets complete the outerwear.
The compass badge
The badge on the left sleeve is attached with buttons and can be removed. It is included unless the description states otherwise. The badge, its buttons and the labels inside are among the details explained in Spotting fake Stone Island.
Size and measurements
The cut differs between models and seasons, and a padded jacket sits differently from a shell in the same size. The size on the label is therefore only a rough guide. The method is explained in the guide to measuring pit to pit.
The full range is on the Stone Island page, with separate pages for Stone Island jumpers and for men and women. The guide to Stone Island explains the fabrics, the badge and the labels, and C.P. Company jackets come from the label Osti founded first.
Frequently asked questions
Is the badge included with the jacket?
The badge is included unless the description states otherwise. Any wear on the badge is stated in the condition description of the item.
How can the age of a Stone Island jacket be told?
The labels inside the jacket have an article number that refers to the season and the model. That number should match the fabric and the colour of the jacket.
How should a Stone Island nylon jacket be washed?
The care label inside the jacket gives the instructions for that jacket. Nylon shells are best washed cold on a gentle cycle, inside out, and air dried, because heat can warp prints and shrink some nylon blends.
How can a genuine Stone Island jacket be recognised?
The badge, the labels inside and the quality of the zips and stitching are the main points to check. Every item is authenticated through LegitApp.
