Pre-owned Prada jackets in nylon and technical fabric, from lightweight zip-up jackets to bombers and puffer jackets.
The house of Prada
Prada was founded in Milan in 1913 by Mario Prada as a shop for leather goods, in the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. His granddaughter Miuccia Prada took over the company in 1978. In 1984 Prada introduced a backpack in a water-resistant nylon, a material that was not associated with luxury goods at the time. Nylon has been part of Prada since then, in bags as well as in clothing.
Prada nylon jackets
A Prada nylon jacket is light and water-resistant, often with a stand collar, a full zip and zipped pockets. The nylon has a fine, smooth surface and keeps its shape, which makes the jacket easy to wear over a jumper or a shirt. Prada also makes jackets in technical fabrics, including shells with a waterproof membrane and a hood.
The red logo of Prada Sport
In 1997 Prada introduced Prada Sport, a line of technical clothing, with a red rubber stripe carrying the name Prada as its logo. The line was later called Linea Rossa, after that red stripe. A red tab or patch on a jacket points to this sportier line, while the main line uses the triangle logo or a woven label. Lines, condition and sizing across the houses are explained in the designer buying guide.
Bombers and puffer jackets
The Prada bomber has a ribbed collar, ribbed cuffs and a ribbed hem, in nylon or in a satin-finish shell, and some are padded for colder weather. The Prada puffer jacket is quilted and filled for warmth, with the same clean finish as the nylon jackets.
Size and measurements
Prada sizes differ between lines and production years, so the size on the label is a rough guide. The method is explained in the guide to measuring pit to pit.
More designer labels are on the page for high-end designer clothing, including Christian Dior, Armani and Yves Saint Laurent, and jackets from all brands are on the jackets page.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Prada and Prada Linea Rossa?
Prada is the main line. Linea Rossa, first introduced as Prada Sport in 1997, is the sportier, technical line, recognised by the red stripe in its logo.
How should a Prada nylon jacket be cared for?
Nylon jackets are usually washed cold on a gentle cycle, inside out, and air dried, without fabric softener, which leaves a residue on technical and coated fabrics.
How is the condition of a jacket stated?
Each jacket has a condition label, and any imperfection, such as a light mark or a missing zip pull, is stated in the condition description of the item.
