Filter and sort

Pre-owned Dickies work trousers, from the 874 to cargo and carpenter trousers, mostly with a straight leg.

The 874

The 874 is the original Dickies work trouser: a straight-leg twill trouser with a flat front, belt loops and welt pockets at the back. Dickies released it in April 1967.

Cargo, carpenter and other cuts

Cargo trousers add flap pockets on the side of the leg. Carpenter trousers have a hammer loop and tool pockets, and carpenter jeans also have reinforced knees. Most Dickies trousers are made of twill, in cotton or a blend of cotton and polyester.

Size and measurements

Dickies trousers are sized as waist by inseam in inches, written as 34x30 in the title. Waistbands can stretch with wear and hems can be shortened by a previous owner, so the label is a rough guide. The waist is stated as that flat width: a pair sized 40x32 in the title has a full waist of 40 inches and measures 20 inches flat. The method is explained in the guide to measuring clothing.

The trousers can also be browsed for men and women, and the full range is on the Dickies page. The Dickies buying guide explains what to check on a pair, Duck Canvas, Denim and Drill covers twill and canvas, and Carhartt work trousers have their own page.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Dickies 874?

The 874 is a straight-leg twill work trouser that Dickies released in April 1967. It is the best-known Dickies trouser.

What does 32x32 mean on Dickies trousers?

The first number is the waist and the second is the inseam, both in inches. Both are measured on each pair and stated in the description.

Can Dickies trousers be washed?

The care label inside the trousers gives the instructions for that pair. Cotton is best washed cold and air dried, because tumble drying is the biggest single cause of shrinkage in cotton. More is in the guide to washing and caring for clothing.
