Pre-owned workwear for women, from duck canvas work jackets and chore coats to carpenter pants, work trousers and dungarees.

Workwear in a women's wardrobe

Most workwear was first cut for men, and many items are unisex. A work jacket or chore coat worn open over a knit, carpenter pants with a fitted top and dungarees over a T-shirt are common combinations. The heavy fabrics, duck canvas, denim and twill, keep their shape and soften with wear.

Size and measurements

Unisex and men's sizes run differently from women's letter sizes, so the measurements are the better guide. Jackets and tops are measured at four points: across the chest from armpit to armpit, the length of the body, across the shoulders and the length of the sleeve. Trousers and dungarees are sized as waist by inseam in inches, for example 30x30. The method is explained in the guide to measuring pit to pit.

All workwear is on the workwear page, and workwear for men has a page of its own. By brand, see Carhartt for women, Carhartt WIP for women and Dickies for women. The fabrics are explained in workwear fabrics.

Frequently asked questions

Is workwear unisex?

Many workwear items, such as chore coats, hoodies and dungarees, are cut unisex. The four measurements show how an item will sit, whatever the size on the label.

How are dungarees sized?

Dungarees are sized like trousers, as waist by inseam in inches. The bib and the straps are usually adjustable, so the waist is the measurement to check first.
