Pre-owned Carhartt jackets, trousers, hoodies and T-shirts in duck canvas, denim and cotton jersey. Each item is measured flat and carries a condition label.

Work clothing in duck canvas

Carhartt makes work clothing, and the construction still shows it. Many jackets and trousers in this collection are made of cotton duck canvas, a densely woven cotton that holds up to hard wear, and the main seams are triple-stitched. Trousers and bib overalls add reinforced knee panels, utility pockets and hammer loops, and the denim has contrast topstitching and a leather logo patch. Several items show signs of earlier use, such as faded canvas or stains, and that wear is stated in the description together with the condition label.

Jackets

Jackets form a large part of the collection. The Active jacket has an attached hood and the Detroit jacket has a corduroy collar, and the models also include chore coats, bombers, field jackets and lined canvas jackets. The linings range from quilted and plaid flannel to blanket, fleece and sherpa. Each main model has its own collection page, linked at the end of this text.

Trousers, jeans and bib overalls

The trousers range from straight-leg work pants in canvas, twill or denim to cargo pants and cargo shorts with flap or patch pockets. The jeans are cotton denim in washed or dark indigo, with contrast topstitching and a leather patch at the back, and the bib overalls are canvas with adjustable shoulder straps and a front bib pocket. The size is stated as waist x inseam in inches, for example 31x30.

Hoodies, jumpers and T-shirts

The hoodies are made of cotton-blend fleece with a drawstring hood, kangaroo pockets and ribbed cuffs and hem. The crewneck jumpers are cotton blends with a small chest logo, and the T-shirts include pocket tees, graphic tees and long sleeves in cotton jersey or waffle knit. The shirts are made of cotton twill with a chest pocket and a button front.

Size and measurements

Carhartt cuts its clothing generously, so it can be worn over other layers, and the size on the label is only a rough guide. Jackets, jumpers and shirts are measured flat at four points: across the chest from armpit to armpit, the length of the body, across the shoulders and the length of the sleeve. Comparing those numbers with an item already in the wardrobe gives a more reliable result than the label. The method is explained in the guide to measuring pit to pit, and the Carhartt sizing guide covers Carhartt sizing in more detail.

How to read the label of a Carhartt item is explained in Reading Carhartt tags, the jackets are compared in Carhartt jackets compared, and the complete guide to Carhartt covers Carhartt and Carhartt WIP, the tags, sizing and the main models.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Carhartt and Carhartt WIP?
Carhartt is the original American workwear brand, founded in Detroit in 1889. Carhartt WIP is a separate European company that uses the name under licence, and it has its own collection in the store. The label inside the item shows which of the two made it.

How does Carhartt sizing work?
Carhartt is cut generously, to be worn over other layers. Measurements differ widely within one size, so the measurements in the description are a better guide than the label.

How old are the items?
The age differs per item. Where the label gives a production date, it is stated in the description.

Is Carhartt available for men and women?
The roomy cut is worn as unisex, and the collection has separate pages for men and women.
