C.P. Company and garment dyeing
C.P. Company was started by Massimo Osti in 1971 under the name Chester Perry. Osti pioneered garment dyeing, in which a finished item is dyed after it is sewn, and Stone Island began in 1982 as an offshoot of the label. The lens detail on the sleeve or in the hood recurs throughout the collection.
Jackets, parkas and coats
Jackets form the largest group. They include goggle jackets with a hood and integrated lenses, lightweight shells in crinkled nylon, garment-dyed field jackets in cotton canvas, shirt jackets with flap pockets and two leather jackets. The collection also holds hooded parkas, a car coat and jackets with down or polyester padding, as well as a Gore-Tex shell with a corduroy collar.
Knitwear
The knitwear consists of crewneck sweaters and quarter-zip pullovers in rib or textured knit, several with the lens badge on the left sleeve, and a rib-knit goggle jacket.

Size and measurements
The cut of C.P. Company varies by era and model, so the size on the label is only a rough guide. Each item is measured flat at four points: across the chest from armpit to armpit, the length of the body, across the shoulders and the length of the sleeve. Comparing those numbers with an item already in the wardrobe gives a more reliable result than the label. The method is explained in the guide to measuring pit to pit.
Browse the C.P. Company jackets separately. The related label Stone Island comes from the same designer, and more technical outerwear is available from Arc'teryx and Napapijri, and in the high-end collection.
