The brand

Thomas Burberry founded the company in 1856 and introduced gabardine in 1879. The trench coat was built on that cloth and developed from military use during the First World War. A label reading Burberrys rather than Burberry generally dates an item before 1999.

Coats and jackets

Jackets and coats form the largest part of the collection. The trench coats are double-breasted or single-breasted, with a storm flap, epaulettes and a belt, and many have a check lining. Car coats, overcoats and duffle coats sit next to them. The jackets include quilted jackets, bombers, coach jackets and field jackets, some with a corduroy collar.

Knitwear and shirts

The knitwear includes crewnecks, V-necks, full-zip and quarter-zip jumpers, turtlenecks and cardigans, in cotton and wool blends. The shirts include check and plaid patterns.
