Plain and pocket T-shirts

A plain T-shirt in cotton jersey is worn on its own or under a shirt, a cardigan or a jacket. A pocket T-shirt has a patch pocket on the chest, often with a small logo label. Some T-shirts have a small embroidered logo on the chest or a striped body.

Graphic T-shirts

A graphic T-shirt has a print, from a small logo to a large graphic on the front or the back. Older prints often show light cracking or fading from wear and washing, and that is stated in the condition description of the item.

Long sleeve tops

A long sleeve top has the same jersey with full-length sleeves. A waffle knit has a raised, square texture that holds more warmth, and a henley has a short button placket below the neckline.

Size and measurements

What is a waffle knit top?

A waffle knit has a raised pattern of small squares that traps air, which makes it warmer than flat jersey. It is often used for long sleeve tops.

How should a cotton T-shirt be washed?

The care label inside the item gives the instructions for that item. Cotton is best washed cold, inside out to protect a print, and air dried, because tumble drying is the biggest single cause of shrinkage in cotton. More is in the guide to washing and caring for clothing.
