Pre-owned Canada Goose jackets, most of them insulated parkas such as the Expedition, the Kensington and the Chateau. Each item is measured flat and carries a condition label.

Canada Goose and its parkas

Canada Goose began in 1957 in Toronto as Metro Sportswear Ltd., founded by Sam Tick. Its early output was woollen vests, raincoats and snowmobile suits, and a down-filling machine developed later by David Reiss made consistent production possible. The brand names its parkas after places in Canada, and the model name in the item title describes the length, the closure and the hood.

The main models

The Expedition is a long, thigh-length parka with heavy fill, a large fur-trimmed hood and several external pockets, and it is the largest group in the collection. The Chilliwack is a short bomber cut with ribbed cuffs and hem. The Kensington is slim and mid-thigh, and the Chateau is a mid-length parka with a straighter cut and flap pockets. Smaller numbers of other models, such as the Trillium, Montebello, Banff, Borden and Lorette, complete the range.

Fill, hoods and condition

Many parkas are filled with down, and many hoods carry a trim that is faux fur on some items and fur on others, removable on several. Whether the trim is faux fur or fur is stated in the description where it is known. Visible loss of fill and wear at the cuffs and hem are stated in the description of the item.

What it costs new

In retail, new Canada Goose items are priced approximately as follows.

Item Retail (guide price)
Expedition parka approx. €1,400 to €1,700
Chilliwack bomber approx. €1,000 to €1,200
Langford parka approx. €1,100 to €1,400
Lightweight down jacket approx. €600 to €800

Size and measurements

The model name tells the shape and the length, but not the width. Each item is measured flat at four points: across the chest from armpit to armpit, the length of the body, across the shoulders and the length of the sleeve. In this collection, Expedition parkas measure between 54 and 74 cm across the chest and Chilliwack bombers between 50 and 65 cm, so the label alone says little about the cut. The method is explained in the guide to measuring pit to pit.

Canada Goose Models Compared sets the main models side by side, the guide to Canada Goose covers the models, the hologram disc and sizing, and Spotting Fake Canada Goose explains seven details to check. The comparison of winter jackets sets Canada Goose against Moncler, The North Face and Patagonia. More winter jackets are available from The North Face, Moncler and Napapijri, and in the high-end collection.

Frequently asked questions

Which Canada Goose models are in the collection?
The Expedition, Chilliwack, Kensington and Chateau are the largest groups, followed by the Trillium, Montebello, Banff, Borden, Lorette and Mystique.

Is the fur trim original?
The description states whether the trim is faux fur or fur, where it is known. On several models the trim is removable by design.

How can the condition of the down be judged?
Down should recover and stand when the parka is held up and shaken. Visible loss of fill is stated in the description of the item.

How does Canada Goose sizing work?
The model name tells the shape and the length, but not the width. The four measurements in the description are a better guide than the label.
