Canada Goose parkas for women and men, from the Expedition with its down-filled hood to the Chateau, the Langford and the slim Kensington.
The main parka models
The Expedition is the parka for the coldest conditions. Canada Goose developed it for scientists at McMurdo Station in Antarctica, rates it TEI 5 and cuts it oversized to mid-thigh, with four double-entry front pockets with flaps, two sleeve pockets and a zipped security pocket.
The Langford and the Chateau end at mid-thigh and are rated TEI 4, and Canada Goose describes the Langford as relaxed, with room to layer. The Kensington is a women's parka with a slim, longer cut that ends at the thigh, rated TEI 3. Other models, such as the Trillium, the Montebello, the Lorette, the Mystique and the Banff, follow the same system: the name stands for a length, a cut and a warmth rating. Canada Goose models compared sets the main models side by side.
Hood, fur and fill
The hood of a Canada Goose parka is adjustable and, on the warmest models, filled with down. In June 2021 Canada Goose announced that it would stop manufacturing with fur by the end of 2022. Parkas made before then can have a coyote fur ruff, removable on some versions, and later parkas are made without fur. For the current Expedition and Langford, Canada Goose lists the fill as 80% duck down and 20% feathers, inside an Arctic Tech shell.
Size and measurements
Canada Goose states that the Expedition and the Langford run large and advises sizing down, while the Kensington is slim.
The full Canada Goose range has its own page, as do Canada Goose for women and Canada Goose for men. How down and shell fabrics age is explained in Gore-Tex, Down and DWR, and Winter jackets compared sets Canada Goose against other brands.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the Expedition and the Langford?
The Expedition is rated TEI 5 and the Langford TEI 4. Canada Goose lists the Expedition for -30°C and below and the Langford for about -15°C to -25°C. Both end at mid-thigh and both run large.
What does TEI mean?
TEI stands for Thermal Experience Index, the scale on which Canada Goose rates warmth, from TEI 1 for the lightest insulation to TEI 5 for the warmest. It is the brand's own comfort range and not an independent measurement.
Can a Canada Goose parka be washed?
The care label inside the parka gives the instructions for that parka, and Canada Goose lists some models, such as the Langford, as dry clean only. Every item is professionally cleaned.
